It gives us immense pleasure to invite you to the 48th AMASI skill course and FMAS Examination at Department of Surgery, SCB medical college, Cuttack, Odisha. The skill course is an academic and accreditation activity of the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India, the largest specialist Association of Surgeons of India (ASI).

The aim of this skill course is to standardise laparoscopic surgical techniques, and to update the knowledge, keeping up with the current trends. During the course of 3 days, we will try to provide comprehensive knowledge and skills in basic to advance laparoscopic surgery. There will be a live operative workshop demonstrating commonly performed laparoscopic procedures. Our vision is that every surgeon in India should be trained adequately in the art and science of Minimal Access Surgery and every citizen should have access to minimal access surgery.

A written examination and viva voce will be conducted on the last day of the skill course. Successful candidates will be awarded Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS).

One of India’s oldest cities and the business capital of Orissa, Cuttack derived its name from the sanskrit word kataka which stand for a military camp or army protected or for government seat. More than a thousand years, Cuttack has been the capital of Orissa for almost nine centuries.

The city perhaps, is also the grandest showroom of the state due to its world famous filigree works in silver, ivory and brass works, as well as textiles of woven silk and cotton.

A great engineering marvel can also be found here. Cuttack’s river bank is protected by a strong revetment, exemplifying the ancient yet remarkable technological skill of Orissa. Along the banks of the mahanadi river are the ruins of the Fort Barbarati and the earthen mound of the nine-storey palace of the Ganga. Both are silent witnesses of the vicissitudes of the state’s history. The must see attractions of cuttack include Barabati fort & Barabati stadium and much more. Cuttack offers the attractions in its surrounding places. During Cuttack tour, you can pay a visit to Nandan Kanan which is located on the way to Bubaneshwar. This is were white tigers can be found in huge numbers. Other attractions in Odisha include Puri, Konark & Bubaneshwar which is the capital city of the state. Cuttack & Bubaneshwar are considered twin city

Eligibility Criteria

  • MCI recognised MS/DNB/M.Ch Degree
  • Candidate should be an AMASI member or can apply with new membership application and fee
  • Candidate should have been performing basic laparoscopic procedures individually (for at least 2 years) after passing the qualifying examination.
  • Participation in a workshop organized by aegis of AMASI
  • Completion of skill course
  • Successful test score in Fellowship Exam.
